Travelling by car

Leave the car parked

Source: Michael Thomas

We strongly advise against travelling by car directly to the Maschsee, as experience has shown that the parking situation at the Maschsee and in Südstadt is very critical during the festival. It is therefore best to leave your car at home and travel by public transport!

The Arthur-Menge-Ufer (from the Courtyard Hotel), Culemannstraße, the Rudolf-von-Bennigsen-Ufer (up to Altenbekener Damm) and Willy-Brandt-Allee are closed to the public on Fridays and Saturdays from around 6 pm. To minimise disruption to residents of the western part of Südstadt on event days, the area between Maschsee and Hildesheimer Straße will be temporarily closed to non-residents. The closure applies on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5 pm to 8 pm, on Fridays from 5 pm to 10 pm, and on Saturdays from 5 pm to 10.30 pm.*

*Subject to changes to the lock-out times and the lock-out scenario.

Different road closure times will apply in the western part of Südstadt on the days of the finals, 22–26 July: Wednesday from 4 pm, Thursday and Friday from 2 pm, Saturday from 12 noon

Travelling by car: Park + Ride options in the greater Hanover area.

Park + Ride

If you still want to travel by car, it is best to park outside and continue your journey by public transport. There is no designated Park and Ride service for the Maschsee Festival, but there are several Park + Ride facilities in Hanover and the region.

Within the Greater Hanover Transport Authority (GVH) network, there are currently around 6,100 Park + Ride spaces for cars. All Park + Ride facilities can be used free of charge and are open round the clock. The Park + Ride facilities are located in the immediate vicinity of stops and interchange points, making it easier to switch from private cars to local rail services.*

*Restrictions may apply during the finals, from 22 to 26 July.

Parking on the Schützenplatz

And for those who want to drive into the city by car, the Hanover shooting range (from there it is a 5-minute walk to the Maschsee, follow the car park guidance system). There are a limited number of parking spaces here.

NUNAV - Free sat nav app

Stress-free access to a free car park: HVG works with the free navigation app NUNAV to help you get there by car. If you enter the destination "Maschseefest" in NUNAV instead of an address, you will be guided directly to a free car park to avoid traffic jams.
