„Toilets for Everyone“ at the Maschsee Festival 2026
This year, too, we are becoming more inclusive: thanks to a suggestion from the charity INTENSIVkinder Niedersachsen e.V. and co-funding from donations, there will be a large toilet cubicle equipped with a care bed.
“Leisure activities are very often limited by toilet breaks! If there’s nowhere to change nappies, for example, the event is over and you head home – or you simply don’t go in the first place,” explains Anke Mill, chair of INTENSIVkinder Niedersachsen e.V.
There is often a lack of protected places to change incontinence pads or a catheter, i.e. so-called "toilets for all". These are large care toilets that are ideally equipped with a care stretcher and a hoist for transferring from the wheelchair to the stretcher. If there is no such "toilet for all", care has to be improvised: on the floor of a disabled toilet or in the park on the grass. This is not only unhygienic, but also inhumane.
INTENSIVkinder Niedersachsen e.V. is committed to ensuring that "toilets for all" are built in central public places throughout Lower Saxony so that social participation for people with multiple impairments is not hindered by a full nappy.
The location is easy to find on our overview map.
The wheelchair-accessible toilet with a reclining seat can be accessed using the Euro key. A ramp is provided.
